Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Review

THE POTTER mania is back again, what with David Yates and JK Rowling having to offer the last movie of the Potter series. The review of the movie is great, as per critics, as the cinematography is perfectly in place with the latest technology in Hollywood. If not a Potter fan, a person who loves watching real magic created in front of the camera should definitely watch this weekend’s most awaited film ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’.

The darkest part of the Potter series is also the shortest part. It finishes in 2 hours and 10 minutes but the tone of the film is just right. The last part ending at the death of Dobby (the house Elf) this part takes off from there and keeps the audience at their seats end. The tone of the film moves up and down with the fate of the protagonist.

The larger than life characters created by Rowling are showcased in the silver screen in their true avatar.
Audiences would not only love the virtuous Harry, brave Ron, intelligent Hermoine but they would also fall in love with the almost mad bellatrix, the control freak Snape and the vicious Voldemort.

Although at times the film appears dim but that adds to the gloomy feel. The audiences would really submerge in the world where everything is wrong and Harry is their only hope.

Coming a full circle, Harry ends his journey in Hogwarts (the place that gave him his individuality) and duels with the greatest lord of Non Muggle world. To say more would really be not fair to the audiences as this movie is surely a visual treat, with the duel scenes creating magic on screen. To watch it in 3D adds to the magic.

The actors have done their very best and we see all them matured and ready to face the world. For the Potter fans this movie would again be nostalgic as they would experience the bittersweet ending of the world of Harry Potter.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is an upcoming 2011 epic fantasy film directed by David Yates and the second of two films based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the eighth and final instalment in the Harry Potter film series, written by Steve Kloves and produced by David Heyman, David Barron and Rowling. The story continues to follow Harry Potter on a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry’s best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The supporting cast features Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Maggie Smith.

Principal photography began on 19 February 2009 (2009-02-19) and was completed on 12 June 2010 (2010-06-12), with the final day of reshoots taking place on 21 December 2010 marking the series’ closure of ten years of filming. Part 2 will be released in 3D, along with 2D formats, in IMAX on 15 July 2011 (2011-07-15).

After destroying one Horcrux and discovering the significance of the three Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue to seek Lord Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes in an attempt to destroy him. Meanwhile, Voldemort has obtained the as of yet unbeatable Elder Wand, and he aims to complete his final stage to ultimate power. He launches an attack on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in an effort to bring Harry to the final battle against the Dark forces that threaten to take over the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. In the end, the final battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort takes place at Hogwarrts, when they fall of the edge of a cliff, and Harry says “It’s going to end where we both started” and he holds on to Voldemort as they fall, they land to the ground and start fighting.

In an interview with Architectural Digest, production designer Stuart Craig remarked on creating sets for Part 2. On the Gringotts Wizarding Bank, he said, “our banking hall, like any other, is made of marble and big marble columns. And it has great strength. The fact that the goblins are the bankers and tellers at the counter helps that feeling of grandeur and solidity and the big proportions. That was part of the fun of the set: we exaggerated the size of it, we exaggerated the weight of it, and we even exaggerated the shine of the marble.” About the multiplication of treasure in one of the bank’s vaults, he noted, “We made literally thousands of pieces for it and vacuum metalized them to be shiny gold and silver. John Richardson, the special effects supervisor, made a floor that was capable of rising on different levels, so there was kind of a physical swelling of theCraig spoke about the Battle of Hogwarts to Art Insights Magazine, saying that “the great challenge is the destruction of Hogwarts. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince PSP Review

Today we’re looking at the hand held version of the new Harry Potter game. This time people at Hogwarts are plotting against Dumbledore (the old headmaster) to get darkness into the school borders. Of course this isn’t as easy as it seems and quickly Harry starts to suspect  several people after a series of unusual events. It is safe to say that the movie is a great success but can the video game follow in its footsteps?

The first thing you will notice about the PlayStation portable version is that the Hogwarts school is mapped in 2d with 3d elements. Which means that the environment looks 3d but doesn’t move around your character. Even more reason for concern is that you walk to different rooms by walking past invisible gates, after which a loading time of about 2-4 seconds occurs. This wouldn’t be a big problem if it wasn’t for the insane amount of searching and walking that is required in this game.

In this game you are Harry, not really a bombshell, and you have to search for various items around the castle.

You do this by talking to different people, they will mention that they’ve seen the item in a curtain part of the castle. After this conversation you can navigate yourself to this room and get the item. Unfortunately these items are mostly owned by schoolmates and you have to get it by trading with some of your possessions, this can be chess pieces or some plants. It’s a pretty painless experience as you can locate the necessary items by hitting select. A navigation arrow to the item will appear, just like how you found the person in the first place. However sometimes you need to get something by trading something rare, which can be difficult. These rare items don’t have the same navigation and pretty much require you to search the whole castle before you can proceed in the story. This is a real pain and together with the 2d Hogwarts rendering not much fun to do either.

The story will proceed when you find the items you were required to find. But you will find little satisfaction from it. A few dialogs that you need to read, it isn’t voice recorded by the actors, and some mini games that aren’t too great either.

The bottom line is this: the game isn’t much fun to play and isn’t very well executed. Graphics wise and gameplay wise it is a disappointment and even for children the experience can be a little dull. You are better off watching the movie instead (and the movie only!). Or the book as well. I guess that’s fine too.
