All About Harry Potter Star Rupert Grint

Article by Ben Pate

Rupert Grint is probably best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. He has appeared in all of the movies alongside his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. He shot to fame in 2001 following the release of the initial Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (the Philosopher’s Stone in the UK).

Rupert Grint was brought into the world in a town called Harlowe in England on August 24th, 1988. He is one of five children with a brother and three sisters. Prior to being cast in the Harry Potter movie series, he had only ever performed in school plays and performances. He wanted to audition for the Harry Potter movies because he was a fan of the books.

Rupert heard about the Harry Potter auditions through the BBC website and was desperate to win the part. He sent in an audition tape in which he impersonated his drama teacher. Following this initial tape he had to go through a further six auditions that involved speaking lines from the script and doing a screen test. Finally he was awarded the role as Ron Weasley at the age of 11.

Immediately Harry Potter fans around the world took to Rupert’s performance in the movies. He also got great reviews from movie critics for his portrayal of Ron. Following this he won several awards for his performances, including the Independent Press Academy’s Golden Satellite-Special Achievement Award for “Outstanding New Talent”.

Other movies he has been in following his success in Harry Potter include: Thunderpants (2002) in which he played a science nerd and Driving Lessons, with Julie Walters (2006). The former was a box office flop and received bad reviews, but the latter was well received and earned him acclaim for his clever performance. He has also done radio work with the BBC.

In 2010, Grint has three movies that are set for release. These include: Cherrybomb, Wild Target and the much anticipated first part of the final Harry Potter book to be made into a movie – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One. In 2011 the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two will be released. He is also in negotiations for a movie titled Eddie the Eagle Edwards.

It seems that Rupert Grint will have no problems branching out from the Harry Potter franchise to form a successful acting career. He has consistently received good reviews for his on screen work in the Harry Potter movies and his other projects. In fact, critics of the latest Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince claimed that Rupert was the stand out among the three stars of the movie.

An interesting fact about Rupert Grint is that he owns an ice cream van, because when he was a kid he wanted to grow up to be an ice cream seller. Keep your eyes out for other Grint projects outside of the Harry Potter movies as there are bound to be many more to come. Read more about Rupert Grint on

Lego Keyrings

Article by Owen Jones

Lego keyrings are a bright notion from the Lego Group and Lego UK. Lego keyrings are intended to be amusing, yet convenient things for the Lego enthusiast both young and old. Some of the Lego keyrings can be hard to acquire and are encouraging collectors to begin a collection.

You can buy Lego keyrings on websites or at almost any Lego shop. There are dozens of different kinds ranging from easy coloured building blocks to Lego Star Wars figures and they are not expensive either.

Lego has been very clever with their keyrings because they are handy little gifts for all ages. They are fun objects, they do not cost over a few of pounds or dollars and the numbers manufactured of some of them are actually fairly small ensuring a healthy secondary market for collectors on Net auction sites such as eBay.

At the moment there are around four dozen different Lego keyrings varying from a straightforward, traditional, red Lego building block with eight stubs to Darth Vader from the Lego Star Wars figures assortment.

If you would like to start a collection of keyrings, go to one of the Lego sellers on the Net to see what is obtainable and then go to eBay to find out what has already come and gone. You may be amazed at how a keyring that was bought last year for a few pounds has trebled in value by now.

The most well-liked of the Lego keyrings are the small figurines. There are policemen, firemen, teachers, postmen, nurses, GP’s, spacemen, Batman, Lego Star Wars figures, Lego Harry Potter figures. All types, in fact.

Some of the Lego keyrings are only sold in sets and some are sold at a cheaper price if bought in a set. There is a huge second market on eBay for the new Lego characters and the older ones too, so if you are interested in starting a new hobby purchasing and selling Lego figures, have a look in a Lego shop on the Internet for great offers and discounted deals.

If on the other hand, you are not so interested in the Lego keyrings but would still like to be in on the action, you could check out the secondary market in Lego figures. Lego figures can be purchased separately, but they usually come in a package as with the Lego Star Wars figures or the Harry Potter sets.

One tip is that these figures are usually relatively expensive, whereas the keyrings are not, so you could buy the Lego keyring of the figure you would like and cut the keyring part off. This is an excellent way of building up your group of Lego characters at a fraction of the normal price and the only difference is that you cannot remove the arms and legs from the keyring figures like you can from the dearer other sort.

Why would you want to take the arms and legs off anyway? They can only be lost or damaged by removing them. No, go for the Lego keyrings instead.
