Answer by Narcissa
Unfortunately, you cannot create a Pottermore account right now because registration has not opened to the public.

Pottermore originally planned on opening in October, but last Friday, Pottermore announced that they would be postponing registration for the time being and they have no plans to open up to new users in the immediate future.

They have extended the beta period in order to fix glitches and make other improvements to the site.

Question by : Why PotterMore keeps telling me that i have to wait few more weeks for my welcome e-mail to arrive ?
I have registered from the first day but when i sign in it keeps telling me “Congratulations!
You’ve successfully validated your early access Pottermore account. You will be one of the lucky few to shape the experience before the site opens to all in October.

You may have to wait a few weeks for your Welcome email to arrive as we can’t let everyone into the Beta site at the same time.” I dont underdstand

Answer by Alissa Burrows
Basically, the welcome email gives you access to test the FULL site. No one has received this yet, because the magical quill promotion isn’t over. They have created these welcome emails to ensure not everybody goes on the site at once because it will clog up the server and make it slow or crash.

Call For Papers Announced For Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium

(PRWEB) July 4, 2005

Lumos 2006: A Harry Potter Symposium is pleased to announce the release of its Call for Proposals. The symposium, to be held July 27-30, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV, will offer two full days of academic programming for adult fans and scholars of the Harry Potter novels.

Bekki Olivieri, Co-Head of Programming for Lumos, hopes presentations will help illuminate the immense popularity of J.K. Rowling’s novels. “The Harry Potter books have had a profound effect on readers of all ages. Parents, children, teachers, and students all rave about him. What is it about Harry that brings such a diverse group of people together? Lumos hopes to unveil this mystery, and more.”

The Lumos programming committee seeks proposals for presentation papers, moderated panels, workshops, and posters on any topic relating to the Harry Potter novels and/or the fan community. Prospective presenters have until January 31, 2006 to submit their proposals, which will be sorted into six major categories:

• Literary and Media Studies

• Legal, Politics, and Ethics

• Social Sciences

• Education/Library Studies

• Fandom Culture

• Fan Creations – Fanfiction and Fanart

Lumos’ scope, however, extends beyond formal papers, encompassing a variety of presentation models such as critical panels, workshops and poster sessions, with an emphasis on audience participation and interaction.

Given the wealth of options open to potential presenters, Olivieri expects a rich and diverse range of submissions. “I am looking forward to seeing a wide variety of themes offered in the submissions, everything from character analyses to a critique of Hogwarts’ educational system to an in-depth analysis of online fandom culture and the popularity of fanfiction.”

Lumos 2006 is the third in a highly successful series of academically-themed conferences from HP Education Fanon, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to producing events that combine a professional and academic focus with the light-hearted spirit of the Harry Potter series to please scholar and fan alike. Their first such effort was Nimbus – 2003, which took place July 2003 in Orlando, Florida and boasted approximately six-hundred attendees.

Further information about the Call for Proposals can be found on the official Lumos 2006 website at http://lumos2006.org/proposals.shtml. Please direct all programming inquiries to Bekki Olivieri or Carrie Clarady via email at programming@lumos2006.org.

Lumos 2006 is an unofficial event, and is not endorsed by Warner Bros., the Harry Potter book publishers or J.K. Rowling and her representatives.

He is called Hari Puttar in Punjab, Harri Potter in Welsh and Harrius Potter in Latin. The universal appeal of the Harry Potter books has created publishing history. On the day, “Harry Potter and the Half blood Prince” was released ten million copies were sold worldwide, of which one lakh were sold in Inida. You do not need a crystal ball to predict that the seventh and the last book will surpass this.

Sales like these are bound to create bad blood among writers, trying to figure out why the books are popular not just among children but also among adults. They conclude that the grown-ups reading Potter are childish people whose imaginative lives are confined to television soaps and reality television.

If Harry Potter’s success is a result of clever marketing, as some other writers have said, then why does it not work with other books?

The most obvious reason why children and grown-ups love a Potter book is that it is great reading. J.K. Rowling is a wonderful storyteller and the books are simply engrossing. The idea of readers watching Harry grow up before their eyes with each book is itself startlingly original. Fantasy and magic always fascinate and these books are all about them.

Moreover, Rowlings`s crisp language and humuour make up for an interesting read.It would be interesting to speculate on whether these books would have been successful in another era. But they are certaintly right for our times – fanasty sells. Star Wars, Spiderman and Batman have all been highly successful. All these depict the superhero as vulnerable.

If we go back in time, Rama is also known as vulnerable. Had Rama been invincible , after Sita was abducted, he would have gone flying off to Lanka and plucked her from under Ravana’s nose. Instead, his monkey army had to build him a bridge. That makes the story much more complelling than if he had simply used supernatural powers.

Rama suffers and through grit and conviction he transcends that suffering. Harry Potter, too suffers and through he knows magic, he is vulnerable and makes mistakes as any schoolboy does. That is one more reason why the Potter books appeal to all of us who blunder through life managing somehow. Now if only we had wand… Harry Potter is totally fictious story which replicate on people in such a way where people have to really believe on it. The real story or an idea comes about Harry Potter story from Mr. Ashok, whose brief description is found on site http://www.tabco.in

Hogwarts Application for Bill Gates: Celebrity Reader Can Tell Wizards from Muggles

(PRWEB) July 14, 2005

In time for the latest Harry Potter book, invite America’s leading empath to reveal who’s wizard material. Using regular photos of any celebrities of your choice, she can jump into the experience of being that person, then describe in precise detail distinctive gifts of the soul.

Here follows a sample celebrity reading of Bill Gates. Perhaps you knew that Hogwarts conducts entrance interviews by reading the candidate’s aura? What might happen to Mr. Microsoft if he applied to Wizard School?

Of course you could interview Rosetree about auras of famous people (Johnny Depp, with his new movie coming out, being an especially good candidate). But for the greatest intrigue, invite her to read a local celeb, someone she knows nothing about until she pops into his/her aura. The premise is fiction, her readings are not. Here’s…… Bill:

POWER: At this stage in his career, even without the benefit of Wizard training, Bill Gates is exceedingly sure of himself. While not bossy, his aura sports a sense of command comparable to what one would find in Queen Elizabeth. A Muggle might think this is because of all his money, but ordinary deep perception makes clear that the man has a kind of doorway into the future; it’s built right into his aura. Powerful though he is, he feels frustrated at how slowly humanity moves.

INTELLECT: A complex and highly analytical awareness is Bill’s trademark. He’s also uncommonly curious, perceptive and intuitive. As soon as possible at Hogwarts, he’d do well taking electives like Advanced Potions. The more complicated the spell, the less likely he is to be bored.

PHYSICAL MASTERY: Bill relates to life with enormous seriousness, mostly noticing dry facts and abstract patterns. Wizard training might amp up the joy. In any event, avoid placing this man on a broom.

Whether you’re aiming for a lighthearted interview or conversation with soul, let Rose Rosetree dazzle your audience. She’s done over 600 interviews—on five continents. After hearing her comments and listeners’ reactions on “The ‘X’ Zone Radio Show,” radio veteran Rob McConnell, “You have more credibility with me than any aura reader I’ve ever interviewed.”
